  1. In the book George describes “graduation day” as a good moment for everyone. He describes how they were dressed, what his parents might be thinking and how his life was about to change forever. As he describes this, his emotions toward this probably were happy emotions/nervousness. I believe George was excited to be graduating but in the end- didn’t know where to go from there. I believe for myself I would probably think the same way. I have thought about my own gradation and I’m pretty nervous. I’m nervous about officially being on my own and being responsible for everything I put out.

  2. The community activities George was involved in were The Shakespeare Club and the police athletic league. I agree that activities and athletics can help keep teenagers off the streets because if teenagers are busy with something positive and put all their time into that, they wouldn’t have time to be focused on the negative things on the streets. I personally do not belong to any activities or athletic groups at this moment, but I used to play tennis in the summer two years ago and mime and sing on the choir at church. But soon I will be back to do that.

  3. What helped keep George out of trouble mostly was how he surrounded himself with people who did their work and ignored the negative. What helped him avoid the negative influence was by joining the Shakespeare Club in elementary school and the Police Athletic League in elementary and junior high. He also played baseball in high school. I agree that activities and athletics can help keep teenagers off the streets because they are more focused on getting their grades up to continue with their activities not only that they have something to look forward to most of the time. They wouldn’t even feel negative energy because they’re to drawn to succeeding. I do belong to a group like this. I’m in bowling and conditioning for soccer. I’m determined, by doing this it makes me feel accomplished.

  4. George talks about how he joined the Shakespeare club and Police Athletic league when he was in grade school. He also says how he played baseball in high school. I agree that doing activities after school is a great way to keep yourself out of trouble. It gives you with a group of friends that you can rely on to have your back and people that want to see you succeed. I used to be in the environmental club at my old school. We participated in park cleanups and help with the installation of stormwater planters in the area around the school. When I graduated I was awarded a community service award for my hard work in the club.

  5. George talks about how he joined the Shakespeare Club and Police Athletic League. George say that he would stay away from the people who promoted violence and also the people who didn't have the same goal as he did. that goal was becoming a doctor. i do agree with this because if you were trying to become a Football all star you wouldn't hang out with a bunch of singers and dancers it just wouldnt make sense. you would want to stay with friends of yours that also liked football and wanted to become an all star.

  6. In the book George describes what helped him stay of trouble mainly how he surrounded himself with people who did right things and ignored and stayed out of the negative things in life. The thing that really helped him avoid all negative influence was by joining the Shakespeare Club in elementary school and the Police Athletic League in elementary and junior high. He also played baseball in high school. I do strongly agree that after school activities will help someone stay out of trouble. In some ways hockey has helped me keep my head and stay away from the bad things.
