RESPONSE QUESTION- SECTION 3- pages 100-150

The summer program the boys attend before their freshmen year at Seton Hall is quite rigorous. What are some of the challenges they faced? Do you think you would have been able to survive?

13 comments:

  1. The challenge they faced were realizing that the summer camp was more like boot camp, and that it required more discipline and hard work. Some challenges were that they only had a short dinner break, they were being treated like babies and they weren’t allowed to watch TV during study time. To me, I think I would have been able to survive, due to the fact that I like to be challenged. I like to be put in a position where somebody care about me enough to make my life a living hell until I realize it was only for my own good.

  2. You know what they say, “no pain, no gain”. With the challenges they faced such as having to be committed to their studies, everything was mandatory like bed time. They had their counselor occasionally check on them to make sure all lights are closed. In my point of view I think I would be able to survive because I would take it as a huge privilege for me to become better. I love challenges and I hate to see things taken for granted. Not only that I like to prove people wrong. I am capable of doing a lot of things.

  3. The summer program at seton hall was a great oppurtunity for the boys. With that they had to face alot of changes and rules. For one they had very limited free time and a short break for dinner. They werent allowed to watch tv during study time and their curfew was alot earlier than they were used to. I think that i would have been able to last through the program. Would I have enjoyed it? Absolutely not! They were young men and they were quite honestly being treated like little kids. But in the end it is a great oppurtunity and you have to take every oppurtunity you can to succeed.

  4. I believe that the program at seton was a once in a life time oppurtunity. Because many kids would want to be in the program. The challenges they faced was being focused on their school work and amking sure their grades dont slip. I think be able to survive in the program. As long as i stayed focus on my school work and finish all my work on time.

  5. The summer program seemed a little hard to me because with all the challenges they face like having to be committed to their studies and how everything is mandatory like there bed time. They had their counselor occasionally check on them to make sure that they were going to bed. They weren’t allowed to watch TV during study time and their curfew was alot earlier than they were used to. If I was in this situation I would have probably went because I don’t like being treated like a little kid.

  6. The summer programs taught the boys well. It teached them discipline. I got to admit, the boys weren't expecting the camp to be that strict, they expected a normal summer camp. The challenges they faced was demands such as early curfew, having to be told when to go to bed, during studying they could not watch tv. I do not think I would have surved I was in their skin to strict of an environment for me

  7. The summer program the boys attended before their freshman year at Seton Hall was more like school then a program . They had rules and regulations that needed to be followed . They were told when to go to bed , how to study , and they had very little time for their self . They weren't allowed to watch TV when it was time to study , and they had to make sure that the lights where off at a current time . I think I were to go to a summer camp like that I would push myself to succeed but it would be very difficult because I don't like people telling me what to do and when to do it . However , they were trying to get prepared for college , and they had to get ready for challenges in that sort .

  8. The summer program the boys attended before their freshman year at Seton Hall was not like a program it was more like school. They had rules such as how to study but during study time they was not allowed to watch TV, they was treated like babies had very little to no time for their self and how to go to bed. I think I would have been able to survive the summer camp because I like challenge and that would definitely be a challenge for me.

  10. The summer program they had to go to was a lot like school because they had some rules like going to bed when told to. No watching TV even on their own time they couldn’t do anything. They had to study when they were to. I think I would have not lasted because I like a little me time to do what I want.
